A Focus on Core Study Skills

Transitions is a specialized study skills and high school preparation program developed by StudyPoint and taught by our expert tutors. Designed specifically for students at the start of high school, Transitions reinforces the following key learning skills:

  • How to study for tests and quizzes
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Test taking skills
  • Listening and note-taking skills
  • Goal setting
  • Effective academic reading
  • Self-advocacy in high school

Our approach and materials are age appropriate for students in grades 8 - 10. This specific age focus is intentional. History has taught us that the older high school students get the less willing they are to accept coaching and change habits. We strongly recommend to our clients that your child complete Transitions in the spring of 8th grade or the fall of 9th grade. We do offer the program to students up until the middle of the 10th grade, but our recommendation to complete the program sooner is based on our strong belief in the importance of starting high school on the right foot.

Ninth grade academic performance is highly correlated with overall performance throughout high school, and as a result you want your child to have a very strong freshman year. Transitions can help ensure you achieve that goal.
