Schools in Category: Urban

Schools in an urban setting are usually located either in the middle of, or directly adjacent to a major city. Many students are attracted to these schools because of their metropolitan offerings, often including museums, shops, nightlife, and accessible transportation options. While many universities within this designation–such as Columbia in New York–offer a set campus within the hustle of a city, others–like Boston University in its namesake city–instead immerse their buildings and culture within the greater city. Many of these schools’ locations may compromise the community feel that students get at a suburban or rural school. However, many students actively such a compromise, and welcome the opportunities of an urban school happily. More examples of colleges in urban settings include UCLA, Northeastern, University of Chicago, and University of Pennsylvania.
